Applied Skills is an E-learning tech startup looking for a Research Writer who is adept in doing in depth research for our clients needs. This is NOT a simple copy paste job as this entails not just research but also creative writing so someone with writing and/or blogging experience is required. This can easily turn into a long-term possibility for the right candidate. The Research Writer will assist our creative manager to transform researched content into powerful and creative texts that is conducive to learning.
Specific Requirements:
- Fluent and conversant in English
- Able to conduct in depth research based on topics assigned to him/her
- Can transform simple text content into creative writing ready for e-learning
- Resourceful and detailed oriented
- Has creative writing experience and/or maintains his/her own blog

Cover Letter 

Please allow me to immediately address the specific requirements:

- Fluent and conversant in English
I have worked in the call center industry, both in the front lines and in the management side and the English requirement for both is absolute, especially when dealing with the US, UK and Australian markets. In recent years, and by chance, I have become a writer of sorts for various clients who needed some writing done for their websites and I have continued on that path.

- Able to conduct in depth research based on topics assigned to him/her
Research is an integral part of the writing process for me, without it I would never be able to write on various topics required by clients.

- Can transform simple text content into creative writing ready for e-learning
It is not clear if I can provide creative writing ready for e-learning because I have never done such a task. Perhaps you can guide me into dialing my work to the specifications you require.

- Resourceful and detailed oriented
I would like to reiterate that I do my research and this reflects on my resourcefulness and my compulsion to be detail oriented.

- Has creative writing experience and/or maintains his/her own blog
I cannot tell you that I have creative writing experience but I can say with absolute certainty that I have pleased some clients with such requirements but I would never label myself as a "creative writer." I do maintain my blogs when I can, working on the content of clients does keep me from doing my own.

I have been writing content for sometime now and I was thinking that perhaps what I can do is sufficient for your requirements.

Site an example of a complicated research that you were tasked to do. Including a brief explanation on how you were able to complete it successfully.
Instead of a specific example, please allow me to tell you about what I normally go through for some of the articles I am tasked to do. I am usually given a topic or a title and most of the time I am clueless as to what it is about so I do the research - Google is the starting point of this research. With due diligence on my part, I take what I have learned and spin it with some of my own ideas. I maintain that it is logical enough to make sense and mix it all up into a finished piece.
